Our raison d'etre

The Oxfordshire Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge is one of the Premier Lodges in Oxfordshire and fulfils the need for a Lodge of service and support to the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master and the Province of Oxfordshire. The Lodge objectives are to set the highest standards in all of its work both at Lodge meetings and within the Province and to increase the Masonic education and broaden the Masonic experience of its members and of the Craft in general.

The duties of the Lodge and its membership include stewarding at the Annual Provincial Meeting and helping at or organising other such prestigious occasions as directed by the Provincial Grand Master. These may include various festivals and other events highlighting and promoting Freemasonry in the community. Whilst discharging these duties, Stewards work under the direction of the Provincial Grand Secretary and Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies and their respective teams.

Individual Stewards may also be called upon to assist the Provincial Grand Master and the Executive in other ways, by undertaking specific commissions to assist in the ruling and direction of the Province.

The Lodge liaises with and encourages inter visiting with Provincial Stewards Lodges in other Provinces and invites Masters and Secretaries of those Lodges as honoured guests, along with the Oxfordshire Provincial Executive, to the Installation meeting.

The Lodge has a close association with the Provincial team and the appointment as an Active Provincial Grand Steward is of the highest honour, given in recognition of exceptional service to his Lodge or the Craft in general and results in prominent participation at Provincial events.
